9.6oz Dead Blow Tpu Hammer - Furniture Assembly +
9.6oz Dead Blow TPU Hammer - Two Handle StylesA very handy tool for around the house. When you need a judicious application of kinetic energy but you don't want to damage the thing you are hitting. Great for assembling furniture, those tinker toy wine racks and all manner of woodworking… and more. It is of course not suitable for driving railroad spikes, seating piston cylinder sleeves into semi truck engine blocks or any mining of any kind… ;) 50mm Diameter Head - 227mm Overall Length Rugged TPU Head is durable and wont scratch up surfaces. Two Handle Options. A smooth handle that you can print a glue a TPU grip onto or a one piece handle with an integrated raised grip. Handles print great in PLA+. Basic PLA not recommended. 3 Profiles: TPU Hammer Head - Handles Both Styles - Optional TPU Grip For Smooth Handle Requires 4oz of steel shot. You don't want stainless steel, You want regular or chrome steel so you can use a magnet. More on that later. This 4oz bag of 3mm shot worked perfectly and provides a very dead blow with zero bounce. 4oz 3mm Chrome Steel Balls AmazonIMPORTANT ASSEMBLY INSTUCTIONS: 2 Part Epoxy Adhesive is the recommended glue to use. You need maximum strength and flexibility. We use JB Kwik Weld 2 Part Epoxy - Amazon Link) It is a little smelly but used correctly it completely bonds the head to the handle. It is however cheap, easy to use and easy to get. You can not use anything that air dries as the handle fits inside the head tight enough to keep the air out. That is why a 2 part epoxy works best. HEAD/HANDLE: Pour the steel balls into the head and USE MAGNETS to keep the balls to both sides so you don't glue any of the balls together or to the handle during assembly. A nice blob of mixed Kwik Weld on the top of the handle and a schmear around the circumference near the top will do it then carefully install the handle until FULLY SEATED in the socket and pay attention that you get good glue contact between the handle and the TPU heads collar. It will ooze up and you insert the handle. Better to have to wipe some off than not have enough. Wipe off any excess and place the assembled hammer at rest vertically and allow to dry for 24 hours. Remove magnets AFTER glue has dried. HANDLE/GRIP: Smear a thin coat of the glue of your choice on the lower part of the handle then slide on the handle and position as you like. E600 works great for this as you don't want an instant set while you position the grip. Wipe off excess and let dry for 24 hours. That's it… It's Hammertime!
