They will press in just a bit past flush so the plastic is what touches the surface, not the metal magnet. It's a tight fit but they will go! Press straight in, not at an angle. Putting the magnet on a counter and using your weight to press the housing down on it works well. If you cant get it flush, use a third magnet to press it that little bit further.
